A Chicago native, Dan Telfer spins whimsical flights of fancy with stories
from his quirky life. Ever the geek, he is a lover of all things nerdy and never
shies from being the punchline of his own joke. TimeOut named him one of the
Funniest People in Chicago. In 2009 he won the Snubfest’s competition
“Last Snob Standing” and was named audience favorite. He has appeared
on the nationally syndicated TV and Radio program The Bob and Tom Show multiple
times. His topical one-liners are featured daily on the iPhone app known as
“This Just In.” RooftopComedy.com dubbed him the "Nelson Mandela
of Nerds". Rooftop went on to name his clips a Staff Pick 4 times, and
Guest Editor Veronica Belmont’s Editor’s Choice. NYtheatre.com said
"Dan Telfer promised the kind of unpredictable lunacy you need for an audience
to forget itself". In 2009 Comedy.com named him one of the 20 funniest
comedians in Chicago.
As a stand-up comedian Dan has worked with such comedians as Maria Bamford,
Janeane Garofalo, Paul F. Tompkins, John Oliver, Todd Barry, Marc Maron, Chris
Hardwick, and Patton Oswalt. He is a cast member and producer of Chicago Underground
Comedy, one of the most popular stand-up shows in Chicago. He is also a teacher
at Chicago's famed Second City, where he teaches their first ever Stand-up Comedy
courses.
