Chicago's biggest breakout band, Lucky Boys Confusion,
recently signed with Elektra Entertainment, the home of Metallica, Third
Eye Blind, and Busta Rhymes. A ferocious live band and the biggest up
and coming story in Chicago in recent years, LBC has played shows with
acts like The Urge, 2 Skinnee Js, The Pietasters, Mest and does brisk
business in Chicago and surrounding Midwest markets.
Lucky Boys Confusion released their first album, Growing
Out Of It, on their own Townstyle label in early 1999 and began to build
a loyal live following playing frequent suburban parties, YMCA gigs,
and later moving on to a series of shows at Chicago's Metro. A year
later - January 2000- after building a rabid young fan base and coming
into their own as an electric live band, Chicago's Alternative Rock
station, Q101, added LBC's "Dumb Pop Song" into heavy rotation.
A major label chase commenced, and after a string of 5 sold out shows
in 5 months - 3 shows at the venerable Metro and 2 at House of Blues)
- Lucky Boys Confusion signed with Elektra. Their two indie records,
Growing Out Of It and the follow up, The Soapbox Spectacle, have each
sold over 4,000 copies locally to date.
LBC headed to California last fall to record a new album
with producer Howard Benson (P.O.D., Zebrahead, Less Than Jake) and
engineer John Goodmanson (Harvey Danger, Sleater Kinney) for release
in March/April. Meanwhile, the LBC Street Team has grown to over 650
reps, with over 100 located outside of the home market of Chicago. The
band's website www.luckyboysmusic.com has several MP3s for download,
as well as the video for "Dumb Pop Song" and much more info
on the band.
