Moderne Philosophy
A Moderne Philosophy workshop is an up-close encounter with yourself.
Through writing poetry and exploring the philosophies about how we treat ourselves and each other, instructor Ashlee Haze seeks to teach each attendee more about their own emotions and feelings.
In “Balancing the Scales: A Conversation on Social Justice,” attendees will be encouraged to question what they have been taught about race, “the P-word” (privilege), and what actions it takes to bring us closer to justice. In “petty poetry” you can expect to write poems that help process bitterness, jealousy, and anger in a healthy way. In “moderne love” and “emotional safety” you will experience Title IX-friendly insight into healthy habits of interpersonal connection, and get a better idea of what is and isn’t loving behavior and what is and is not interpersonal violence. In her signature “autobiography” workshops, you will be asked to take a trip to the past and identify the stories, moments, and qualities that have shaped who you are.
Whichever workshop you choose, you are guaranteed to leave with more profound questions about yourself and your life experiences, and, in the best case, leave with some answers you’ve been seeking.

Balancing the Scales: A Workshop on Identity & Social Justice
In this workshop, Ashlee Haze explores the makings of identity and how folks of historically marginalized identities can find our voices in a cis/white/hetero-centered world. Ashlee Haze explores “the p word” (privilege) and how we can move from a culture of weaponizing privilege to one where it serves as a tool for social justice and equity.
Petty Poetry: Processing Bitterness and Rage through the Writing of Poetry
